Taking Off is a site-specific installation that explores the intersection of aesthetic movement and functional security. This series features 17 birds in various stages of ascent, their wings outstretched at different levels to create a rhythmic sense of rising energy across the wall.
Crafted from Corten steel, the sculpture serves a dual purpose. While the stylized silhouettes tell a poetic story of flight, the sharp, angular design of the wings serves as an integrated security measure. It is a sophisticated alternative to traditional fencing—protecting the property while adding a dynamic, sculptural narrative to the architecture. As the steel develops its deep, weathered patina, the birds appear to emerge naturally from the wall, caught in a permanent moment of collective departure.
